MA#2 Activity 1: Prompt Reflection

-Prompt Reflection Review the Major Assignment #2 prompt. What does it ask you to do?

The prompt of major assignment 2 asked us to write a research paper, based on primary research we are going to be doing. And about a topic that we have chosen.

-What are you familiar with in this task, and what is new to you?

I am familiar with doing research but that’s secondary research, primary research is new to me and need to practice it more often.

-What steps will you need to take to complete the work?

Research, plan to create the paper, brainstorm, and more research.

-How much time will you need to set aside in your schedule to complete the work?

For me personally this a big research paper, and it’s very hard for me especially not having English as my first language, I will be setting a lot of time aside to work on this paper.

-What complications do you anticipate as you reread this prompt?

Some complications I am facing, I am limited to what I can researching, this is a long research paper, and primary research I have zero experience with.

14) Unveiling a Writer

For your final WordPress blog entry in this course, post a rough draft of your Reflection-in-Presentation, the theory of writing that you’ve been working on all semester.

This was posted Here

It should pull together all the ideas you’ve been formulating through the term, address the prompt fully, and work to look back upon your work and forward toward other writing situations and contexts you can imagine having to address.

MA#3 Activity 4: Reflection on Your Composition

Working with the genres for this assignment was quite hard since I had to connect them to my research, to present to an audience. I had a lot of problems, for example finding the right information to present that was important to see other than smaller details in my research. I can overcome this by giving it more time and looking for the right information to present. Other problems were to do more research on top of a huge amount of research that was already done, since I had most of the research done it was hard to put in new information to it since i have covered most of it. Choosing the right audience will help you choose the right genres to use and present your information.

MA#3 Activity 2: Audience Strategy

This strategy will be developed based on your research essay and your genre proposal. The audience strategy is the blueprint or foundation of your composition, so it is critical to developing a strategy with the end effect in mind. Planning in advance about how you will communicate your ideas to an audience will ensure its success; poor planning will result in a less-than-effective final project.

I think It is very important to plan each genre and give them equal amounts of work to tie all the pieces together.

  1. Your research question
My main focus is to research Project-based learning, and my question is how effective is PBL?
  2. A summary of your project. Identify your topic and describe what you will be looking at
in terms of the topic. Include some key terms and additional questions that will guide your
    research.
I have done research about Project-based learning and went out to interview teachers who used in their classrooms, There was a lot of great things I have found through research. I will be making this proposal to discuss the other genres that I will be using to deliver my message to the chosen audience. I want to make a video, infographic, and a website.
  3. A description of your purpose for working on this project. Why did you choose this topic? What do you hope to learn from this project?

I love the way that my teachers used PBL to teach at school, so many students loved it. I plan to use all the research to create different genres to deliver a message, I really hope I can learn a lot more about PBL and have a very effective message.

  1. A discussion of the key challenges you will face or you imagine you will face.
Mostly the challenges are troubleshooting the software that will be used to make my genres and to have enough time to work to have a very effective product.

Your research question
I came up with different questions and worked on to refine one of them and my final research question is “How effective is project-based learning?”

A working title for your project
Project-Based Learning: Education Done Right

A summary of your project. Identify your topic and describe what you will be looking at
in terms of the topic. Include some key terms and additional questions that will guide your research.

I plan to research the topic project based learning and write about the different ways it can be effective and be helpful. After going to my high school I have been curious about project based learning they have always used to teach students, during the last year I took a class that was math and a physics class, this class really showed me what PBL is, we learned a lot in that class and solved real-world problems. This is why I choose it to do my research.

A description of your purpose for working on this project. Why did you choose this topic? What do you hope to learn from this project?
I love the way that my teachers used PBL to teach at school, so many students loved it. I plan on interviewing some of my high school teachers and students to get a more understanding of the PBL system. Also do more research to find about other stories that are out there, as well as informative articles to teach me more about the topic to help me reach my goal of the essay. I plan to have teachers and students as my audience.

A discussion of the key challenges you will face or you imagine you will face. What concerns do you have regarding the research/project?
There’s going to be a lot of challenges I am going to face in this project, the biggest challenge is time, I don’t think we are given enough time to research and write an essay. The second challenge for me is to set up times with teachers to interview, also finding really good resources is going to be hard.

13)Reflection and Transfer

Transfer and learning are a very crucial part to gaining knowledge, after reading chapters 2&3 of how people learn it showed a lot about how they work together to describe how people learned and gained knowledge. My understanding was still the same just a bit stronger after reading this, it was very helpful to read this and look at how people learn. There are so many connections that can be made between transfer and learning since they work together to provide information to easily teach people, the way the information is transferred is important to see how fast a person would learn. In this classroom, I think that reflecting on what was done and how your thinking was changed is a very effective way to learn from mistakes and experience. Using this for my last reflection I think this will help a lot to reflect on what happened during, before, and what I think after. If all of these ties in together will show me and others what I have learned in this class and how my theory changed.

12) Transfer

I like to learn and use what I learn as I go on in life, everything we did in English 1001 will help me down the road. I like to work hard and learn, which leads me to use what I’ve learned in my future. I haven’t used anything from this class in others since all my classes doesn’t involve writing papers and research reports, but one day everything I learned will be helpful. Now I can find a genre, audience, and use rhetorical situation to write and aim my paper at the right people who is interested in reading in a genre like my papers

11)Composing in Contexts

There was a huge change from assignment 2 to 3, we went from diving deep and finding sources to research and answer questions about a topic, to reflecting and talking about the process. It’s a huge change for me since I was more comfortable to do research on a topic to writing about what happened and reflect about it. It was very hard to find good resources that can provide some new information, since a lot of them were giving similar information. I need to work on finding better resources and enhancing my papers.

9)Define Genre

Genre is a big part of this class, we have read a lot of articles about it. After reading and looking at what other authors say about genre, I have learned a lot about genre. I would describe it as the category that the writing fits in with other similar ones, it gives readers an idea to what to expect from the writing. This will be used in my paper to aim towards an audience and use genres to find the readers that are interested in such work.

8) Purpose and Primary Research

For this week I Read an article by Grant-Davie, after reading his purpose in relationship to writing it really didn’t change my thinking of writing a lot. It gave me more knowledge about it and helped me understand more things behind writing, writing has a lot to it. Connecting rhetorical situation, audience, genre and reflection, helps the writer to connect more to the readers and get more audience. This can be used in any writing to get a good writing. I will be interviewing teachers about my topic, I will be looking at Greene’s essay on primary research to use them to help me research. Reading other students essay helped me plan it out and have an outline to what I am looking for.
